Gatehouse Diner & Coffee House in Aylesbury offers a straightforward, no-nonsense dining experience centered around classic English breakfast fare and all-day diner staples. Located on Gatehouse Way, this spot feels familiar and unpretentious — the kind of place where local workers and regulars drop by for a solid, hearty meal to start the day or grab a quick lunch.

The atmosphere is comfortable and clean, with a sense of everyday practicality rather than trendy flair. It’s neither too loud nor too quiet, making it suitable for both a solo visit with a coffee or a casual sit-down with friends or colleagues. Staff are friendly and accommodating, often stepping in to help with doorways or accessibility, which adds to the approachable, down-to-earth vibe.

Breakfast options dominate the menu and are, predictably, the main draw here. You’ll find the Traditional and English Breakfasts, alongside lighter bites like ham, eggs and chips, and Eggs Benedict variants. These dishes lean on classic flavors and portion sizes that satisfy rather than surprise. The sausage quality has received mixed remarks, but overall, the breakfasts fill the bill for those who want a familiar, traditional morning meal. Aside from breakfast, the diner also serves simple lunches such as fish and chips, moussaka, jacket potatoes with various toppings, and simple salads, which make it a functional midday stop.

This is not a place for adventurous palettes seeking something innovative or gourmet, nor for those wanting a vast menu selection. Instead, it fits well for anyone who desires reliable home-cooked style food in a casual setting. Coffee is solid, complementing the breakfast and light bites without fuss.

Parking is convenient with disabled spaces right by the door, though the entrance has a couple of spring-loaded doors that might present minor challenges. The diner’s practical layout and attentive service help navigate these small details comfortably. The overall experience feels like stepping into a local haunt where the emphasis is on consistency, friendly interaction, and feeding the everyday appetite.

Best time to visit is during weekday mornings or early afternoons, when it serves local workers and residents looking for a straightforward meal and a decent cup of coffee. If you’re nearby and want a quick, familiar breakfast or lunch without fanfare, Gatehouse Diner & Coffee House fits the bill.

Good breakfast and super cakes including bread pudding. Eggs Benedict with salmon is very filling. My kind of place. Staff friendly and cooperative. Comfortable place to eat, good coffee. A popular place for local workers,. Clean and cheerful place.

As my Dad would call it, ‘A Greasy Spoon’. A tradee and English breakfast place. You know what you’re going to get. Pleasant staff, fair service and an English breakfast. If that’s why you’re going, as I do, then go. If you’re expecting something more, then don’t. I had sausages and beans. I’d liked for the sausages to have been better quality. For the venue: A cracking English breakfast is where you earn your reputation. Please don’t lose sight of that.

I enjoyed my breakfast this morning. I drive a car and a walking frame. There are 2 disabled parking spaces by the door. There are 2 sets of spring-loaded doors that can be difficult to operate, but there are helpful people around who opened the doors. The serving counter is normal height which is fine with a walker, may be difficult in a wheelchair but the staff were very helpful. There is a disabled toilet but without a grab rail on the rear of the door to grab to close the door easily. I coped, but it easily overlooked. It won't stop me going there again. :)

Nice friendly staff . Not a great choice of food . No heart warming mains. Home cooked but nothing special. Would recommend though if you are in area and need a quick fix food wise.

Nice friendly staff and clean cafe. Breakfast was nice but a couple adjustments could be made. For example sauces and salt and pepper should be placed on all the tables as well as menus. Only had a couple menu's by the till which isn't very useful and I would prefer to be able to look through the menu at own leisure. Would revist to try other items.

Good place for breakfast and lunch. Good prices & friendly staff. Not too much parking outside but should be a big issue

Very good, very large breakfast. Really enjoyed it although it was a challenge to finish it all. Good strong builder's tea to go with it and very nice brown bread toast. Will definitely visit again.
